East Bali

Keramas is a high-performance right-hand rivermouth reef break on Bali's east coast, offering steep takeoffs into hollow barrel sections followed by long, workable shoulders. It picks up south to southwest swells in the 180-220 degree range, with the sweet spot between 4-6 feet, though it can hold up to 10 feet. Offshore winds blow from the north-northwest, and the wave works on all tides but favors mid to high. The reef is shallow and sharp, making booties advisable, especially on lower tides. Keramas was a WSL Championship Tour venue and is famous for its night surfing sessions under floodlights at the Komune Resort. The wet season (November-March) delivers the most consistent swells with favorable winds, while the shoulder months of April and October can produce excellent conditions with smaller crowds.
