Galicia surfing

Galicia

Playa de Razo is a wide, exposed beach break stretching over 5 kilometres along Galicia's rugged Costa da Morte, roughly 45 minutes from A Coruna. The sandy bottom produces shifting left and right peaks that range from mellow, beginner-friendly rollers on smaller days to fast, hollow waves with real power when winter northwest swells arrive in the 4-to-8-foot range. Best conditions come with south offshore winds and mid to high tide, and the prime season is October through March when consistent North Atlantic groundswell lights up the coast. The sheer length of the beach means crowds are rarely an issue — peaks are well spread out, making it one of Galicia's most spacious lineups. Water temperatures are cool year-round, so a 4/3mm wetsuit is essential even in summer, and the dramatic wild coastline setting adds to the experience.
