Lombok

Desert Point, also known as Bangko-Bangko, is a world-class left-hand reef break on the remote southwestern tip of Lombok, famed for producing some of the longest barrels on the planet -- rides can stretch up to 300 metres with 20-second tube sections on a perfect day. It breaks over sharp, shallow coral reef and is extremely tide-sensitive, only working properly during a short window around low tide when solid southwest swells are running, with wave faces reaching up to triple overhead. The dry season from May to October is the prime window, and access requires a drive to the far end of Lombok followed by a short boat or paddle out. This is strictly an expert-level wave; the takeoff is critical, the barrel is fast and shallow, and the reef is unforgiving. Crowds gather when conditions align, but the remote location filters numbers compared to Bali's main breaks.
