Trestles is a world-class cobblestone reef break in San Clemente, California, comprising several distinct sections including Lower Trestles, Upper Trestles, Middles, and Old Man's. Lower Trestles is the crown jewel, producing near-perfect A-frame peaks with long, rippable walls over its signature cobblestone bottom, shaped by the outflow of San Mateo Creek. The coastline's orientation makes it extremely receptive to south and southwest swells, which are the staple of Southern California summers, while morning offshore breezes frequently groom the waves to glassy perfection. Waves typically range from 3-6 feet, with the cobblestone reef providing a remarkably consistent and predictable break that has hosted numerous WSL Championship Tour events. Access requires a 15-20 minute walk down from the parking area at the San Onofre entrance, and the lineup is notoriously competitive with skilled locals.
