El Conquistador is a reef break in the south of Tenerife near Playa de las Americas, producing A-frame peaks that break over flat but jagged volcanic rock. The right is generally better quality than the left, and waves range from waist-high to double overhead, with the ideal swell from the southwest. At smaller sizes the spot is mellow and welcoming to all levels, but when a medium to large swell hits the reef it produces fast, powerful walls best left to experienced surfers. The break works on all tides but is best around a rising mid tide, with offshore winds from the east. Watch for sharp rocks on the inside, particularly at lower tides.
