Salani sits on the south coast of Upolu Island in Samoa, where powerful South Pacific swells unload onto shallow coral and lava reefs to create steep takeoffs, fast walls, and wide-open tubes. Salani Right is the everyday wave — a shorter, punchy barrel that works at any size with multiple takeoff spots over a relatively flat reef. Salani Left is longer and faster, a hollow barrel ride over coral reef that gets more intense as you ride down the line, surfable from 2-10ft faces. Even small days have surprising power due to the deep-water-to-shallow-reef transition. June through August brings the biggest south swells, while December through February offers glassier conditions with early or late season swell. Shoulder months of March-May and October-November often deliver the sweet spot of size and clean conditions. Sharp reef is the main hazard.
