Snapper Rocks is the starting point of the legendary Superbank, a man-made sand-bottom point break on the Gold Coast that produces some of Australia's most iconic right-hand barrels. Swells from the east and southeast wrap around an ancient volcanic rock spine, generating fast, hollow righthanders that can link up for rides of over a kilometre through Rainbow Bay on ideal days. The wave works on all tides and handles sizes from 3 to 8 feet, with S-SE winter swells delivering the best barrels. Located at the southern tip of the Gold Coast at Coolangatta, access is easy via the famous jump-off rocks, but expect serious crowds — this is one of the most competitive lineups in Australia and a regular WSL Championship Tour venue.
