Eastern Cape, South Africa
Jeffreys Bay is one of the greatest right-hand point breaks on earth, located along the Eastern Cape's Sunshine Coast in South Africa. The wave links through multiple sections — Kitchen Windows, Magna Tubes, Boneyards, Supertubes, Impossibles, Tubes, The Point, and Albatross — and on an epic day can offer rides of over 300 metres. Supertubes is the crown jewel, delivering fast, hollow, perfectly shaped barrels in the 4 to 10 foot range over a rock and sand bottom, and it hosts a WSL Championship Tour event each winter. The best conditions occur from June through August when southwest groundswells combine with west-southwest offshore winds. Water temperatures are cool, ranging from 14 to 18°C, so a quality wetsuit is essential. The town has a strong surf community and excellent infrastructure, but expect intense crowds and a competitive lineup at Supertubes when it is firing.
