Taiwan's WSL contest site — cobblestone A-frames on the east coast

Jinzun Harbor is Taiwan's premier surf break and home to the annual WSL Taiwan Open of Surfing. The flagship wave is an A-frame cobblestone peak that produces both lefts and rights running for around 50m, with the swell wrapping around the reef to create barrelling sections at overhead-plus sizes. The bottom is boulders and cobblestone, creating a unique wave texture. Best swells arrive from the southeast and east, while west winds are offshore. The northeast monsoon season from October through April brings the most consistent quality surf to the east coast. The harbour mouth produces a mellow longboard-friendly peak, while outside sections offer more performance waves. Water stays above 23C year-round so boardshorts work most months, though a light wetsuit helps in winter when air temps dip.
