Puerto Escondido’s softer side with long, cruisy lefts.

La Punta is a left-hand point break at the southern end of Playa Zicatela in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, where the headland refracts and tames the raw energy of one of the world's heaviest beach breaks into long, rideable walls. The wave breaks over a rocky bottom of shallowly covered boulders, producing barrel sections, ramps, and clean shoulders on south-southwest swells with north-northeast offshore winds. Wave size ranges from fun and mellow on smaller days to serious barrels during solid summer swells, accommodating everyone from advanced beginners to professionals depending on conditions. The lineup gets very crowded, especially on weekends and early mornings, as it is the go-to alternative when main-peak Zicatela is too heavy. The water is warm year-round, and the best consistent conditions run from May through October.
