World-class right point with long barreling walls in Byron Bay

Lennox Head is an east-facing, world-class right-hand point break in northern NSW that lights up on SE swells, predominantly during winter. The 1.2km-long rocky reef bottom produces quality green walls with hollow, barreling sections that can break for up to 300 metres on solid swells. The ideal conditions are a NE swell with SW offshore winds, though the break is versatile and can mould swells from the south through to the east into long, walling rights. When it gets overhead the wave becomes heavy with fast, hollow sections offering serious tube time. The best and most consistent months are May through August when SE groundswells become frequent. Hazards include shallow rock reef, strong currents on bigger swells, and a very competitive local lineup. Water temperatures remain relatively warm year-round at 19-27C, so boardshorts work in summer and a 3/2 wetsuit covers winter mornings. Located just 10 minutes from Ballina airport.
