Western Australia, Australia
Margaret River is a world-class surf region in Western Australia with over 75 breaks along 130 kilometres of coastline, offering waves for every skill level year-round. The flagship break, Surfers Point (Mainbreak), delivers powerful lefts and rights over reef that can reach up to 20 feet, working best on SW to W swells with easterly offshore winds. Other notable breaks include The Box — an infamous shallow reef slab that produces a uniquely square-shaped barrel on SW-S swells and mid-to-high tides — and Redgate, a more sheltered beach break ideal when the main stretch is too heavy. Winter brings the biggest and most consistent swells from the Indian Ocean, while summer offers smaller, more manageable conditions with earlier sea breezes. Expect crowds at Surfers Point on good days, especially during the WSL Championship Tour event held here annually. The region also offers world-renowned wine, dining, and nature, making it a complete surf travel destination.
