Sunshine Coast, Australia
Noosa Heads is a world-renowned right-hand point break system on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, comprising five distinct breaks — Granite Bay, Tea Tree, National Park, Johnsons, and First Point — that wrap around the Noosa National Park headland over a mix of sand and rock. First Point is the jewel, producing clean, peeling right-handers that can run for over 100 meters on a good swell, while Tea Tree has been called 'the best small wave on planet Earth' by legendary shaper Bob McTavish. The points all face north and rely on cyclone swells from the Coral Sea between December and May, particularly February and March, when warm, clean lines wrap around the headland into flawless walls. Designated as a World Surfing Reserve, Noosa is one of Australia's premier longboarding destinations, though the quality of the wave attracts surfers of all disciplines and the lineup at First Point can get extremely crowded. The tropical rainforest backdrop running right to the water's edge gives sessions here a uniquely lush, natural setting.
