Playa Encuentro is the Caribbean's most consistent surf beach with around 350 surfable days per year, located 10 minutes west of Cabarete on the Dominican Republic's north coast. It offers five-plus distinct breaks catering to every level: Destroyers is a fast, hollow expert reef needing solid north swell; Coco Pipe delivers advanced-level barrels from October to April; The Right is a quality intermediate wave and the main peak; and wide inside whitewater zones are ideal for beginners. North Atlantic swells from October through April bring the biggest and best waves, with January delivering prime barrel conditions. Summer offers smaller, clean waves perfect for learners — dawn sessions are best before trade winds pick up. Warm water year-round means no wetsuit needed.
