Byron Bay, Australia
The Pass is Byron Bay's premier right-hand point break, offering long, winding walls that peel over a sandy bottom for up to 500 metres from the rocky headland toward Clarks Beach. It handles east and northeast swells best, producing rideable waves from 1 to 6 feet that work at all stages of the tide, with southeast winds being ideal. The wave often gets hollower as it runs down the line, rewarding surfers who can hold a fast trim with one of the longest rides on the east coast of Australia. Access is easy via the walking track around Cape Byron, but expect crowds — this is one of the most popular longboard waves in the country, and the lineup gets packed on clean days.
