Taghazout, Morocco
Anchor Point is Morocco's most legendary wave — a long right-hand point break just outside Taghazout that can deliver rides up to 500 meters when conditions align. The wave jacks up over a rocky shelf, offering barrel sections out the back before walling up and tubing through various sections as it wraps down the point. It handles waves from head-high up to triple overhead, working best with northwest groundswell and northeast offshore winds at low to mid tide. The prime season runs September through March, with January offering the most consistent conditions at around 60% clean, surfable days. When it's smaller (3-5 feet) the lineup gets packed as the wave becomes more approachable, but on bigger days the crowd spreads across three distinct takeoff zones along the lengthy ride. This is not a beginner wave — expect steep takeoffs, strong currents, rocky bottom hazards, and a competitive lineup.
