Lance's Left

Quarter-mile left with barrels, walls and endless sections

Lance's Left is an epic left-hand reef and point break wrapping around the southern tip of Sipora Island in the Mentawai archipelago, offering rides of up to 400 meters across three distinct sections. The top section delivers a thick-lipped, heavy barrel, the middle provides fast, open walls for powerful turns, and the inside tapers into a softer, more forgiving shoulder. It works best on southwest swells at mid to rising tide with easterly to northeasterly offshore winds, and handles everything from chest-high fun waves to solid double-overhead. The coral reef demands respect, particularly at lower tides, though a deep channel provides safe entry and exit. Lance's Left can handle some onshore wind and still produce quality waves, making it one of the more versatile spots in the Mentawais. Peak season runs April to October.
