Chirilagua, El Salvador
Las Flores is one of the most consistent waves in Central America, a right-hand sand point break near Chirilagua on El Salvador's eastern coast that fires approximately 330 days per year. The wave has multiple personalities: on larger swells of 6 to 8 feet and lower tides, it transforms into a serious, barrel-heavy wave compared to Jeffreys Bay and Bells Beach, with critical takeoffs behind the rocks and real consequences for mistakes. On moderate 3-to-5-foot swells or higher tides, it becomes a classic fun point with long open faces and workable walls offering rides up to 300 meters, ideal on a shortboard, fish, or longboard. The bottom is predominantly sandy except at the rocky takeoff zone, reducing injury risk on the inside sections. Best swells arrive between May and September, though the wave works from March through December, with November offering the cleanest conditions. The area has developed solid surf resort infrastructure, and the mellow vibe and wave variety make it a standout destination for intermediate through advanced surfers.
