Mexico's heaviest beach break — Puerto Escondido without crowds

Boca de Pascuales is a brutally powerful beach break on Colima's Pacific coast that rivals Puerto Escondido for raw intensity — but without the crowds. Shifting sandbars create A-frame peaks that throw enormous, heavy barrels on south and southwest groundswells, regularly producing 15-20ft faces with stand-up tubes. The wave breaks both left and right, with constant peak shifts, mega currents, and paddling channels that shut down fast when the swell increases. Offshore in north to northeast winds. The prime season is May through October when Southern Hemisphere swells light up the coast, with a secondary pulse from north swells in winter. Water is warm year-round (24-31C), making boardshorts the norm. The small fishing village offers rustic accommodation, fresh seafood, and an authentic Mexican surf-town atmosphere far from the tourist trail.
