Sebastian Inlet surf spot

Sebastian Inlet

Florida, USA

IntermediateAdvanced

Ideal for skilled surfers chasing sharp, quick takeoffs.

Sebastian Inlet is Florida's most celebrated surf spot, where a rock jetty concentrates swell energy to produce the fastest and most powerful waves on the East Coast's central section. The sandy bottom break works best on east-northeast swells with southwest or west offshore winds at low tide, producing both lefts and rights that average 2-3 feet but can deliver hollow barrels at head-high and above. The jetty amplifies even small swells, making the spot rideable when nearby beaches are flat, though conditions can be inconsistent with flat spells lasting days between good runs. The lineup gets very crowded and competitive when it turns on, drawing experienced surfers from across the state, so beginners are advised to stick to the outer peaks. Watch for occasional rocks near the jetty structure and strong currents that run through the inlet channel.
