Malibu, USA
Surfrider Beach in Malibu is a legendary right-hand point break and the world's first designated World Surfing Reserve, with three distinct takeoff zones — First Point, Second Point, and Third Point — breaking over a cobblestone and sand bottom. Waves typically range from 2-4 feet but can reach 8 feet during summer and autumn south swells, and on large days all three points can connect into rides stretching over a quarter mile. First Point is the most consistent and iconic section, producing long, mechanical, peeling rights that are perfect for longboarding and have defined California surf culture since the 1950s. The best conditions come on south and southwest swells with light north or northeast offshore winds, primarily from August through October. Crowds are the biggest challenge here — Malibu is one of the most heavily surfed waves in the world, with an intense but generally friendly pecking order in the lineup.
