Bali surfing

Bali

Canggu is Bali's most popular surf zone, offering a string of reef and beach breaks along the west coast that cater to every level, from mellow longboard-friendly rollers at Batu Bolong to powerful, high-performance reef peaks at Echo Beach. The area works best during the dry season (May-October) with southwest groundswells and northeast offshore winds, handling waves up to 12 feet on the bigger days. Echo Beach's three distinct peaks deliver fast, hollow lefts and rights over reef (intermediate to advanced only), while Batu Bolong and Old Man's serve up forgiving, long-rolling waves over a friendlier bottom — the epicenter of Canggu's thriving longboard scene. Crowds are heavy, especially after 9 AM, so dawn patrols are essential for scoring uncrowded peaks. Watch for rips, shallow reef at low tide, and debris during the wet season — and enjoy Canggu's vibrant cafe, restaurant, and nightlife scene just steps from the sand.
