Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain
El Confital is a powerful, hollow right-hander breaking over a volcanic reef ledge on the northern tip of Las Palmas. It needs a solid northwest groundswell with a high period and light east or southeast winds to turn on, producing fast, barreling waves with a near-vertical takeoff in very shallow water. Best from mid to high tide, the wave runs the full length of the reef and can deliver world-class tubes when conditions align. Strong localism is a factor — respect the lineup. The rocky bottom and shallow sections make it hazardous; booties are recommended. The main season runs from late September through early March when North Atlantic swells are most consistent. It has hosted WSL events and is widely considered one of the best right-hand barrels in Europe.
