August consistently delivers some of the biggest Pacific swells of the year, making it one of the best months for Mexico, El Salvador, and Indonesia.
August is one of the peak months for Pacific surf. Southern Hemisphere storms push powerful groundswell north into Mexico and Central America, making spots like Puerto Escondido, Sunzal, and Popoyo as good as they get. Indonesia is still excellent. In Europe, the Atlantic is quiet, but the Canary Islands pick up early North swells. This is a month to be on the Pacific side of the world.
